| Jerry Terres,
AA1OF This project is the dremmel delight! The 100k pot is sort of floating - it has an on/off switch but I had to grind down a portion of the part that clicks so that I could turn it on and off without bending the whole pot to a new position. It was the only one I had that was small enough and it has an audio taper, but that seems ok. The battery is a 12 volt version so it's good that there is an off switch. No battery holder, just tack solder the wires to the ends of the battery and use double stick tape to 'mount' it. (The battery was used in my Rainbow Tuner.) There is a layer of plastic under the pcb and I ground off the upper right corner to match the rounded corner in the mini-Altoids tin. The center portion of the bottom of the stereo mini jack is carved out and overlays a bit of the two caps that are just to the right of the IC socket. I socketed the IC so that the static sensitive part could go in last after everything else has been fit to the case and mounted. The little red wire on the inside in the foreground is for the speaker. It works well. It keys a rig and I jumpered the red wire and ground to an external speaker and side tone and programming tones work fine also. If I shrink the summary menu sheet to fit inside the lid, it won't be readable. (Well, maybe my kids would be able to read it.) Hope this works out okay for you! 72, Jerry AA1OF
